Membership Standards / Code of Conduct

The Chichester End of Life Network is an independent information, support, and referral network. The Network does not directly provide medical, nursing, personal care, or regulated care services.

All members of the Chichester End of Life Network operate independently and remain responsible and accountable for their own professional practice, conduct, advice, and services.

Members are expected to uphold the values, standards, and Code of Conduct of the Network at all times. Any concerns regarding conduct or practice found to be inconsistent with these standards may be reviewed by the Network Coordinators and could result in membership being suspended or withdrawn.

Membership decisions are made by the Network Founders, whose decisions are final.

Organisations within the Directory may be franchises or part of a group who do provide regulated services, however are known and trusted by members of the Network. They are expected to commit to the same standards and code of conduct as members.

Membership Standards / Code of Conduct

All members and organisations listed on the Chichester End of Life Network commit to providing:

1. Compassionate, person centred care

Providers agree to:

  • Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion
  • Honour personal wishes, beliefs, culture, and choices
  • Support informed decision-making and independence
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy

2. Professional Standards

Providers must:

  • Hold any appropriate qualifications, registrations, licences, and insurance relevant to their profession
  • Operate within their professional scope of practice
  • Maintain ongoing professional development/training
  • Be transparent about fees and services
  • Have relevant policies in place as applicable to their field of work

3. Safeguarding & Safety

Members agree to:

  • Understand the importance and role of safeguarding
  • Know how to report concerns appropriately
  • Work in a safe and ethical manner
  • Follow health and safety requirements relevant to their role

4. Collaborative Working

Members commit to:

  • Working respectfully with other professionals and organisations
  • Referring clients appropriately when needs fall outside their expertise
  • Supporting joined-up care and communication
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest

5. Bereavement & Emotional Sensitivity

Providers should:

  • Recognise the emotional impact of end of life and grief
  • Communicate sensitively
  • Avoid pressure selling or exploitative practices
  • Respect families’ pace and emotional needs

6. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Providers commit to:

  • Non-discriminatory practice
  • Inclusive and accessible support
  • Respect for all faiths, cultures, identities, and family structures
