Historically, most people died at home, surrounded by family, friends and their community. They were cared for by those who knew them best, and their lives were remembered and celebrated locally.

Today, end-of-life care is often more medicalised, with many people spending their final days in hospitals, hospices or care settings. Families can find themselves navigating complex systems and making difficult decisions at a time of grief and uncertainty.

The Chichester End of Life Network believes there is an opportunity to find a better balance—combining the benefits of modern healthcare with the compassion, connection and community support that have always been part of dying and bereavement.

Our aim is to help people understand their choices, connect them with local services and support, and encourage open conversations about death, dying and grief. We want individuals and families to have access to information, guidance and compassionate support before death, during the final stages of life, and throughout bereavement.
